Telegram beats Viber
According to the Moscow Department of Information Technology, Telegram overtook Viber in web traffic volume. The data reflects statistics on the usage of Wi-Fi public nets in the Moscow region. WhatsApp remains the most popular messenger, providing about 4% of the total traffic (1.1 terabytes) and 13.5% of requests to servers (sending and receiving messages, viewing content, etc.). Telegram occupies the second place (2% and 0.57 terabytes), Skype is on the third position (1.4% and 0.4 terabytes).
Viber moves into the second place by the server requests volume (10.1%), then follows Skype with 6.4%.
Vkontakte is the leader (35,7% and 10.4 terabytes) among all the messengers and social platforms, with its mobile app and web-version taken into account. The second place is taken by Odnoklassniki – 29.13% and 8.5 terabytes, Facebook is on the third place – 23.14% and 6.7 terabytes. At the same time, Facebook is leading by server requests volume (36.7%) and the second place is occupied by Vkontakte (10%). The third place was reached by Mail.ru services – 9.44%.
